Week 1 Stock Report Recap

July 7, 2023

Let’s take a look at the Stock Report from Week 1 and how it looks after Week 2 –

The following players were listed as “STOCK UP”: John Ross, John Brown, Marquise Brown, Lamar Jackson, Michael Gallup, Austin Ekeler, Dak Prescott, Sammy Watkins, The TE Renaissance (Mark Andrews, Darren Waller, TJ Hockenson), and Marlon Mack and TY Hilton

TJ Hockenson and Marlon Mack had rough weeks, but the rest of the list is still looking good. Sammy Watkins didn’t put on an encore of his week 1 performance, but he was targeted 13 times. Lamar Jackson and Dak Prescott have become must-starts at QB. The WR quartet of Ross, Brown, Brown, and Gallup are all solid flex plays with week-winning potential. Mark Andrews and Darren Waller are outplaying several TEs that were drafted wayyyy ahead of them.

The following players were listed as “STOCK DOWN”: OJ Howard, Joe Mixon, Cam Newton, Jameis Winston, Jared Goff, Baker Mayfield, Devonta Freeman, Miami Dolphins, Derrius Guice, Dante Pettis, Robby Anderson, Mike Evans, Brandin Cooks, Stefon Diggs, Corey Davis

OJ Howard (0), Dante Pettis (0), Joe Mixon (4.2), Corey Davis (5.3), Devonta Freeman (7.9), and Mike Evans (8.1) combined for 25.5 points in half-ppr leagues. Derrius Guice went to IR but is eligible to return. Stefon Diggs and Brandin Cooks had their days saved by touchdowns. They had 1 and 3 catches, respectively. Baker Mayfield and Robby Anderson play tonight. Newton, Goff, and Winston all had very pedestrian games.

I know the posts have been lacking lately. There are a few reasons for that:

– Beat writers don’t have as much access to practice anymore

– Their content mainly consists of game summaries and injury news

– This isn’t my main job and I’ve been swamped recently so I haven’t had much time to put together a lot of good content

– Plus I went on vacation for a week

Some ideas I have for future content: More Stock Reports, 2020 rookie report, Start/Sit of the week, and more! Obviously, I’ll resume the Training Camp daily summaries next year.
