Players to Avoid & Target 08/29/2022

Players I’m Avoiding

Kyle Pitts and Darren WallerMy semi-spicy take: Dallas Goedert is the TE3 this year. That’s the main reason I’ve avoided these two tight ends, but they also all come with their own concerns. Pitts will be on a bottom 5 offense and with a huge question mark at quarterback. Waller has been a mystery at training camp and is giving off all kinds of bad vibes. He’s coming off an up and down, injury riddled year in 2021. Plus Devante Adams is now in town and will be a target hog.
CeeDee LambThe Cowboys offensive line is in shambles and I don’t trust Mike McCarthy or Kellen Moore to scheme the ball to Lamb as much as they should. I like Hill, Samuel and Pittman all over CeeDee this year.
Courtland SuttonHe’s just going too early in my opinion. Yes, reports say Wilson and Sutton have had a connection at camp, but I like several guys that are going after him a lot more. Gabe Davis, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jaylen Waddle, Chris Godwin, and even Michael Thomas. Sutton had more than 2 catches only twice between Weeks 8 and 18 last year. I’m fading.
Breece HallI’m a huge Breece Hall fan, but I won’t be drafting him at his ADP this year. Not only will he split time with Michael Carter to start the year at least, but the Jets will be bad again. That’s a deadly combo for Fantasy Football, especially when spending a top 45 pick.
DK MetcalfI have never been high on Metcalf and now he has Geno Smith throwing him the ball. He surpassed 65 receiving yards only 3 times last year, none of which came after Week 7. Metcalf’s boom weeks don’t make up for his inconsistency.
David MontgomeryA good rule of thumb in the mid-rounds is to avoid bad offenses. I like Montgomery. He’s a good running back, but give me Mitchell, Dobbins, and Dillon over him this year. You have to think Montgomery’s scoring opportunities will be low this year. Lastly, the Bears really like Khalil Herbert and have a subpar offensive line.
Dak PrescottBad offensive line. Bottom 5 head coach. Amari Cooper is gone. Dak is a great, and even underrated by most, quarterback but this is not the year I’m drafting him.
Cordarrelle PattersonCPatt was awesome last year. Classic 9th year breakout. I just don’t see the Falcons scoring a lot this year and Matt Ryan is gone. Patterson really struggled to end the season which is how I think most of his season will go. He may have a couple big weeks but I’m avoiding.
Kenny GolladayHe just isn’t very good. Robinson and a when healthy Toney are the future of this team. Don’t be surprised if he continues to slide down the depth chart as the season progresses.
Ken WalkerCPatt was awesome last year. Classic 9th year breakout. I just don’t see the Falcons scoring a lot this year and Matt Ryan is gone. Patterson really struggled to end the season which is how I think most of his season will go. He may have a couple big weeks but I’m avoiding.

Players I’m Targeting

Amon-Ra St. BrownI would take him in the late third to early fourth round. I like him over Juju, Diontae, McLaurin, Marquise Brown, ARob, Bateman, Cooks, and Sutton. I think he picks up right where he left off in 2021.
DeVonta SmithA 50 spot difference in ADP between AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith is crazy to me. Both are excellent receivers, but give me Smith in the 6th round over AJB in the second.
Devin SingletaryHe was on fire at the end of last year and has looked good this offseason. There’s no reason he doesn’t outperform his ADP with 15+ touches a game.
Gabe DavisI would not be surprised at all if he finishes as a top 12 wide receiver this year. The Bills offense is explosive and he will be a big part of it
Brandon AiyukI thought Aiyuk was going to break out last year and he burned me, but I’m giving him another chance. By all accounts, he’s had his best camp of his career and has been the 49ers best receiver this offseason. He finally has a quarterback that can make throws beyond 20 yards, so I’m all in.
Michael GallupI’m down on Ceedee and Dak, but up on Gallup. Jalen Tolbert should 100% not be taken ahead of Michael Gallup. The Cowboys didn’t put him on the PUP list, which means he should be back before Week 4.
Raheem MostertIt’s all about whether or not he can stay healthy. He knows the offense and he’s explosive. It’s tough to envision Mcdaniel wanting to make Chase Edmonds a legitimate bell cow.
