Jonathan Mingo was traded to the Dallas Cowboys from the Carolina Panthers in exchange for a 4th round pick.
For Carolina:
This trade allows them to salvage some value for a pick they probably wish they could take back now. They have made it clear they want to proceed with Xavier Legette and Jalen Coker as the young building blocks of their Wide Receiver room.
For Dallas:
This is the most expensive price paid for an offensive player at the deadline.
Jahan Dotson of the Eagles shared a similar price as an offseason addition this year. Many in the football world are questioning the price because of the lack of results from Mingo in his 2 year career so far. It seems Dallas had some reason to like him and he will get a fresh start with a team that comes with a chance of opportunity.
Mike Williams was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers from the New York Jets in exchange for a 5th round pick
For Pittsburgh:
The Steelers have been linked to Williams for weeks now. Many believed the Steelers needed an upgrade at the position and they get it with Williams. In what seems to be a lost season for Roman Wilson currently plagued by injury, Williams will come and try to fill the void he left that has been managed by Van Jefferson and Scotty Miller so far. Russell Wilson is known for his deep ball, and Williams is known as a downfield threat, maybe this can be a perfect marriage.
For New York:
The Jets got a solid return for an offseason addition that just didn’t work out. Williams and Aaron Rodgers were never quite able to establish chemistry that people thought they could develop. With the addition of Davante Adams, Williams simply wasn’t needed anymore as the Jets will share snaps between a few younger players as Allen Lazard recovers from a chest injury.
Khalil Herbert was traded to the Cincinnati Bengals from the Chicago Bears in exchange for a 7th round pick
For Chicago:
The minimal return doesn’t really mean much, but they get something out of Herbert who was phased out of their long term plans with the addition of D’Andre Swift. It is the end of an era for a player who many once thought had a future in the Windy City.
For Cincinnati:
Herbert comes with talent and the ability to fill an important role for the Bengals. Although fantasy managers love it, I don’t think the Bengals want to see Chase Brown touch the ball over 25 times each week. Herbert fumbled his only touch on Thursday but will look to bounce back. Herbert still seems excited to come.
Traded Players Stock
Diontae Johnson Stock: Down
Johnson is still being worked into his new team, he saw his snaps decrease to just 8 percent in Thursday Night Football. He will look to earn more time as he becomes familiar in Baltimore.
DeAndre Hopkins Stock: Up
Hopkins had his coming out party with the Chiefs on Monday Night Football exploding with a robust 8/86/2 line. He will be dialed up as a top receiver the rest of the way.
Cam Akers Stock: Up
Akers seems to be locked into the RB2 role for now in Minnesota. It probably helped that he had familiarity with the system to make an impact quicker than most players traded.
Amari Cooper Stock: Slightly Up
Cooper is dealing with a Wrist injury and will look to get back this week. He scored a touchdown in his first game with the team. Cooper should have a big impact for the Bills as the season goes on.
Davante Adams Stock: Up
Adams struggled in his first two games as a Jet. In game 3, he showcased his signature releases and connection with QB Aaron Rodgers. He should continue to produce throughout the season.
