6 Takeaways from 6/1-2

August 7, 2023

1. “QB Tua Tagovailoa with a much better day at Thursday’s OTA practice than Wed. Highlights: Two deep passes, in-stride and down the field to Tyreek Hill. First was 40 yards, second was at least 50-55 yards. Smooth throws with more power to go deeper if he had to.”

2. “Saquon Barkley to me on his 2022 outlook under new HC Brian Daboll: “It feels like a fresh start. I feel good again. I know it’s all there. I know how talented I am. Just taking it one day at a time. You feel the energy out here doing different things.” Expects 2b receiving more”

3.  “I don’t want to get too much in detail with it, but Justin’s on the move a lot, and I think he does well with that,” tight end Cole Kmet said. “That’s been exciting to see, and you see the types of throws he can make with his legs and on the run and off-schedule.”

4. “Hooper continues to be a popular target for Tannehill in these practices, and he’s been consistent catching the football. His best catch on Wednesday was a running grab on the sideline on a nice ball thrown by Tannehill.”

5. “Sermon saw a lot of action with the first unit early in practice, a change from a week ago when Jeff Wilson Jr and JaMycal Hasty split those reps.   Sermon did not make the most of his opportunity, fumbling the ball away on his first carry of the day after picking up five yards”

6,. “While running back Hassan Haskins has shown some nice moves, I also keep noticing Sacred Heart running back Julius Chestnut in these OTAs as well. Chestnut has made some nice inside runs, as well as runs to the outside.”

Happy Retirement to Ryan Fitzpatrick and Frank Gore!
